The email below was sent to all current and past Burnaby Disc Golf Club members (at least we hope it was). Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to distributing it more widely until now.

If you are interested in attending the Club meeting mentioned below but aren’t able to make it tomorrow, but could make one on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday let me know. Additionally you can provide feedback via email. (full email visible when you click on CONTINUED…) continued…

Burnaby Disc Golf Club pushes for 50 and club meeting

Posted by & filed under , .

The Burnaby Disc Golf Club is holding a meeting after their club rounds tomorrow, it will be held at Me & Ed’s Pizza (7110 Hall Ave, beside Highgate Village), everyone is welcome to attend (membership not required, but is encouraged).  Since we’ll be heading there after the club rounds, the time is approximate, probably be around 4-4:30pm.  If you’re planning to attend but not coming from the course, let me know and I can call you when the round is finished.

The BCDSS has introduced a new club model which includes two types of clubs: Basic and Gold.  We are trying to achieve Gold Club status, which requires that we have 50 members.  If we achieve Gold status:

  • the club will be eligible for a development grant of up to $1,000 (matching club funds required)
  • 50 BCDSS stamped discs to use as the club sees fit
  • 50 custom bag tags

There’s more, but those are the highlights.  So if you’d like to help out and support Disc Golf in Burnaby NOW is the best time to join the club!  Club dues are $10/year.

Ace Race Summary

Posted by & filed under .

So we had about 50 people out braving the rain on Saturday, which was a good turn out considering the weather.  It does mean however that we didn’t sell out, so I’ve got a few packages left if anyone is interested in picking one up after the fact.

The Ace Pot peaked out at $150.

In total we had 13 Aces and 40 Metal hits (based on the score cards that were actually turned in.

The Grand Prize goes to Dave Ross: 2 Aces and 5 Metal Hits.

Honourable mentions go to:

  • Craig Sheather: 1 Ace and 4 Metals (twice)
  • Dan Callcot: 1 Ace and 1 Metal
  • Darrel Thrasher: 1 Ace
  • Dave Ross: 1 Ace and 5 Metals (which would have also been good enough to win the Grand Prize, if he hadn’t beat himself)
  • JP: 1 Ace and 4 Metals, and on his other card another 1 Ace
  • Mark Hammerquist: 1 Ace
  • Matt Lum: 1 Ace and 4 Metals*
  • Nathan Glover: 1 Ace*
  • Wes McIntosh: 1 Ace and 1 Metal

* Neither Matt nor Nathan were in the Ace Pot.

So the paying Ace are worth $13.64 each (rounding up to $14/each).

Aces Payout
 Craig Sheather 2 $28
 Dan Callcott 1 $14
 Darrel Thrasher 1 $14
 Dave Ross 3 $42
 JP 2 $28
 Mark Hammerquist 1 $14
 Wes McIntosh 1 $14

If anyone is aware of any errors please report them ASAP.

If you haven’t picked up your package yet, please contact burnaby@bcdss.bc.ca to make appropriate arrangements.
